The advantages of prefabricated wooden houses

Share |

The factors that have caused this new trend are numberless: prefabricated houses undoubtedly have many advantages, which cannot leave a potential purchaser indifferent.

First of all, prefabricated houses are usually cheaper, and they can make you spare from 15 to 35% more than a traditionally built house. Expenses, moreover, can be exactly calculated at the beginning of the project, depending on the amount of used materials or on the width in squares metres, and costs might include,
besides transportation and assembly, windows, sanitary ware, faucets, heating system, flooring and tiles (if you choose a full service or a turnkey solution).

This means that costs do not increase as the house is being built, as often happens in traditional building industry, because they are decided in the beginning. Nonetheless to the price that has been fixed you have to add some expenses, but they do not result from the building of the house: we are speaking about expenses connected to the urbanization of the land, the permit to build, the excavation, the security plan in the building site, with the VAT addition.

Not only costs, also the lead time is reduced, and this is possible because all the components of the building are realised in a first step, to be assembled in loco.
A prefabricated house in usually finished two to three months after the order has been made, a very short time if compared to the long times that often characterise the building of other types of houses.

One might say that prefabricated houses do not have only advantages, but also disadvantages, but most of the time these are prejudices. Prefabricated houses, for example, are believed to be less resistant than the other ones, and another prejudice is that there is not a wide choice of models and materials.
In fact, with the developments that have been made in the field of the prefabricated houses, now it is possible to build houses that are as resistant as those that are not prefabricated and, as for the range of models, you can choose a standard house model or you can forward your own proposals to have your house built "in your own image and likeness". As far as materials are concerned, prefabricated houses can be built in masonry, reinforced concrete or wood.

Prefabricated houses in wood are especially requested for various reasons.First of all, because they are nice: very often a wooden house appears much cosier and warmer than a house built with other materials.

But this is not all: wooden houses have got many other advantages.
First of all, they are eco-friendly and conceived to save energy. Wood, indeed, has insulating properties, meaning that it reduces the heat loss. This means that we can save on heating, with positive effects not only on our pockets, but also on environment. Wooden structures, moreover, are particularly useful in areas of high seismic risk: wood, indeed, has some characteristics, like resistance and flexibility, which allow it to respond better than other materials to earthquakes.
For all these reasons a prefabricated wooden house can be a very good investment.
