Educational Wooden Toys: Its Benefits to Enjoy

Share |

Playing is very important in a child's learning and emotional development and provides a wide array of benefits. Playing gives children fun and joy, develops a child's personality, help them realize their potentials and experience the satisfactions of success.

Along with this, it opens them to creativity and imagination and helps develop speech, reading, thinking, problem solving and fine motor skills. Playing is integral to facilitate a child to learn how to manage their emotions, develop values and understand the world around them. These are the reasons why it is important to choose the appropriate toys for your children.

Since all children are natural learners, they are constantly realizing new experiences they encounter in their everyday lives. Therefore, every toy they play with is vital to appreciate the realization of this learning process.

A variety of well chosen toys help towards each child's individual development. As children grow and develop, their needs change and adapt to their environment with differing abilities and interests.

Educational wooden toys are great for children because of the many benefits it could provide to children of all ages. Educational wooden toys enhance a child's hand dexterity and shape recognition and provide amazing open ended adventures that every child could possibly imagine.

Wooden blocks are just some of the classical examples of educational wooden toys that have been known for many decades. With wooden blocks, a child can construct any place or structure they come to mind. Building and construction wooden toys will open a child's mind to unlimited possibilities.

As a child starts to enter into toddlerhood, they begin to learn how to manipulate objects and how different things fit together. Hand to eye coordination becomes more controlled and their mastery in fine motor skills plays a vital role in overall physical development. Toys that can be beneficial include puzzles, building blocks and ‘slotting' toys.

Most children ages 2 or 3 enjoy role playing or creative play that can be either a solitary game or a group activity. Girls in particular enjoy dressing up, while both girls and boys enjoy transforming themselves and objects into make-believe.

Creative play develops a child's imagination, language and social skills. It also improves their emotional behavior by teaching them how to interact with other children their age. Beneficial toys can include teddies and dolls, dressing up outfits, arts and craft materials, and any objects or toys that mimic the environment within the child's imagination.

Preschool years come at the age of 4 years old when play becomes more cognitive. This involves thinking skills, problem solving, decision making and creativity. Cognitive play can be introduced to preschool children by providing them with arts and crafts materials, Lego, wooden building blocks, construction toys and puzzles.

All children possess an innate imagination and natural creativity. A child's play should never be structured hence the freedom of ideas is in itself with a quality to nurture. Parents and teachers must guide children in their activities by providing them with a selection of carefully chosen toys to ensure that they will be ready to face reality and the world ahead of them.
